The Journey to Your Wedding

Creating the Self-Expressive Wedding

You’ve started on a journey to your wedding, a creative expression of your self and your love. But when you create a wedding that's about your personality, your commitment, your life, you are starting with a clean slate—a blank page. You can do anything you want—absolutely anything—and throw away everything that’s in the wedding books. It’s intimidating. It’s paralyzing! Where do you begin?

A Creative Wedding Has a Vision

Your ceremony begins with a vision—a vision that has meaning and depth in the context of your life. How do you find that vision? The aesthetic and personality of your wedding requires self-exploration. You need to answer the tough question: What do we want? To discover a satisfying visual representation of your love, you need to start with basic questions. Ask what you and your partner like...what do you enjoy? What tickles your fancy? What makes you happy? Do you like things completely original and unique, or do you have an appreciation of a mainstream elegance? You’ll need to do some exploration. What words, images, thoughts, memories come to your mind? Brainstorm. Jot. Sketch. Doodle. It can be a difficult task. From talking to people about their desires, we’ve put together a questionnaire to get you started.

Using the Questionnaire

Rules? There are no rules. Okay, well, there are rules, but feel free to break them. This questionnaire is for your benefit, to help you figure out what you want. That means you can use it in any way you choose. But here are our suggestions. Get together with your partner, and spend some time thinking about these questions. Sometimes an answer will spring to mind...but sometimes you’ll need to brainstorm, talk, think. This is the process. This is the point. Get inside your own mind, and explore. You and your partner may have different ideas, so there's space for separate answers. If you’re both totally on the same page, then you don't need to enter separate answers. So, brainstorm!
